A birthday with a BANG!!!!

Yesterday was one of my very good friends birthdays! Derrick has been a good friend of mine since high school and now my husband and him are great friends. Derrick turned 28 yesterday and we decided to cook him dinner. Tyler and some other guys took him out to celebrate over the weekend. Derrick is a great person. He has a heart of gold and is always wanting to help others. He always does what he says and if you are in a pinch, he will come through for you! He is a hard worker and loves a good concert! He is single ladies so let me know if you want to meet him. He is going to make a wonderful lady a lucky wife one day!Not so thrilled about having his picture taken!

SO HERE IS THE BANG PART!
The weather was horrible last night. We had some storms that came through so quick, they blew one of our trees in half. I was freaking out! I will be honest and say storms are not my friend. They have always scared me and still do to this day. I HATE THEM! SO, I kept telling Tyler we were going to need to take cover and he kept telling me to chill out! The sirens started blaring and the house was making horrible sounds so Tyler told me and Cole to take cover. By the time we got into the closet, the storm with 70/80 mile window blew over. I still sat in there a little longer to be on the safe side. The good thing is Cole never did wake fully. I put him in my lap and laid him back in his bed without any trouble. I had a hard time falling asleep after the storm. I am soooo tired today but at least we are safe. We just finished yard work this week and now it looks like we have more to do.
I hope everyone else was safe last night and I hope you all enjoy your Wednesday!

Birth of a Beautiful baby!

PEYTON JOSEPH CRESS
Born: March 9, 2011
7lbs 7oz
19 3/4 in long

I am an aunt to 2 now. My sister's second born came into the world on March 9, 2011! He is beautiful and is so well behaved already. He eats and sleeps... nothing else. I have not heard him cry yet!

I picked Zadie up from the sitter and she is obsessed with her umbrella. She broke her Dora one so she has Spiderman now! It is not even raining outside but the umbrella was up. I asked her to smile and she said NO!

On the way to the hospital... I asked Zadie where Mommy was.. her response.. at work. I told her mommy was having a baby and she said a baby elephant? Then she told Tyler mommy was having a baby monkey and started making monkey sounds. She is one cute character. She has a very vivid imagination!

Blake came to see the baby too! But all the boys wanted to do were eat cheese balls! These 2 are some kind of a pair. They love each other. I hope they grow up to be best friends with sleep overs, camping and hunting trips!

And finally baby Peyton! He is so cute. He was already sucking his thumb and very alert the entire time we were there. Never cried though.. just let everyone pass him around.

Blake and Big Granny looking at the baby.

Natalie and Big Granny. I think Natalie was the only child that cared anything about seeing baby Peyton. Natalie is so sweet and has the biggest heart for a 5 year old!

Blake saying hello!

There will be plenty of more post of Peyton this year I am sure. We love cousins!!!

Birthday and a cupcake Please!

We have celebrated 2 birthdays this month already! My hubs and my Dad's. We did not do anything to fancy. We had sometime with family at dinner and celebrate another day together. They are two wonderful people in my life.

To my husband!
You are a Man among men. My life would not be where it is today without you. I am who am because you were brought into my life. I thank God every morning that I get to wake up and spend another day with you. I can't image being married to anyone else. You are a wonderful husband and unbelievable father to Cole. We are so blessed to spend another year with you! We love you Tyler!

To my Dad!
Thank you for loving me everyday! I have grown up to be the woman I am because of all the amazing things you have taught me. I look up to the relationship you have with mom and hope that Cole can say the same about me one day. You have been my shoulder to cry on and my friend but most importantly you have always been my loving dad! I love you Daddy!

Now for the CAKE!
A boy in my class celebrated his birthday this week as well and his mom brought these amazing cupcakes to school. I am very eager to try them! SO here the recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 3 eggs

Directions

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt; set aside. Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Add 1 egg and the vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Mix in the flour mixture until just incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips; mixing just enough to evenly combine. Form the dough into tablespoon-sized balls; place onto a baking sheet, and freeze until solid, about 2 hours.
  2. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 24 muffin cups with paper liners.
  3. Beat 3 eggs in a large bowl with an electric mixer to break up. Add the cake mix, water, and canola oil; continue beating for 2 minutes on medium speed. Spoon into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full. Place a frozen cookie dough ball on the top center of each cupcake.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the cake portion of the cupcake (not the cookie dough ball) comes clean, about 20 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

We are back

So life has taken me away from blogging for a few months as you can tell. We have been so busy with school starting back and Tyler going to night classes. Blogging has been the last thing on my mind. So we are all great! Work is great and Tyler is doing well in school! SO to the fun stuff! COLE!

He will be one in about one week! How time has flown by. We celebrated his birthday early because we will be at the beach for his birthday. We had family and a few friends over to play in the backyard and a hot dog cookout. Then off to the cake! He loved his cake. We have fun painting outside, jumping in the bounce house and playing with all our friends.

Other things we have done lately: We took Cole to his first Tiger game! He had such a good time. He played and played but did not like the big tiger mascot! If the tiger even came close he would scream! Other than this we have been enjoying a lot of time together and going with the everyday flow of life.
